Mr Anthony P Francis

Born 03 MAR 1934 / Rest 17 JAN 2025

Mr Francis served on 3 continents as an expert engineer. First, Chief Engineer and later Works Managerof KKS Cement Factory, Sri Lanka. Then, appointed by the United Nations to be Chief Engineer of Uganda Cement Industries, turning it around into a major export success for the country. Finally, a consultant engineer in the UK until retirement.

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, who was called to eternal rest on January 17th, 2025.

Beloved husband of Dr. Josephine Francis.

Devoted son of the late Saverimuttu Antonypillai and late Swanapillai Antonypillai.

Cherished father of Prof. Darrel Francis and Dr. Irene Edwards.

Caring father-in-law of Dr. Richard Edwards and Maricris Tuason.

Caring grandfather to Thomas Edwards, Emily Edwards, and Amy Francis.

Son-in-law of the late Rayappu Samarakone and the late Anna Mary Samarakone.

Loving brother of the late Thevaratnam Joseph, and the late Saverimuttu Antonypillai.

Beloved brother-in-law of the late Mary Theresa Saverimuthu, the late Joseph Gnanapragasam, Arunthathi Anthonypillai, Anton Victor Samarakone, Fatima Phillips, Joseph Alakakone Samarakone, and Miriam Vathany James. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

He was well respected and loved by many in the Tamil community for his dedication and generosity, fondly called him, Anna(brother), Aiya, Uncle and Sir.
