It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Chelvadurai Ilamurugan, MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire), also known to many as Rasan, of New Malden, Surrey, UK on Sunday 4th of January 2026.

Rasan was born on the 11th of December 1943, in Inuvil, Sri Lanka to the late Mr. and Mrs. Chelvadurai.

He was the beloved husband of Sivanayagy, devoted father of Niranjan and father-in- law of Nicole.

He was the adored brother of Sagunthala Thevi Anandarajah (USA), the late Sivagurunathan (Australia), Skandakumar (UK), and Anandakumar (Australia).

He was cherished by a host of nephews, nieces, and grand nephews and nieces.

Rasan will be remembered for his kindness, and the affection and laughter he shared with everyone. He will be deeply missed.
