It is with love and reverence that we announce the passing of Bastiampilly Jesu Mariathasan, who peacefully left this life on December 11, 2024. Born in Jaffna, Sri Lanka, and a longtime resident of Markham, Canada.

He was the beloved son of the late Soosapillai Bastiampilly and Agnes Bastiampilly.

Bastiampilly was predeceased by his beloved wife, Regina Mariathasan.

Following her passing, he devoted his life to raising his children as a single father, embodying unwavering dedication, love, and strength. Known for his impeccable sense of style, intelligence, and polished demeanor, he inspired all who knew him with his grace and resilience.

He leaves behind his loving children: Duncan, Ruban, Raymond, Edmund, Celine, Rosita and Brendon, as well as their spouses, Romanie, Rajini, Joy, Annabel, Terence, and Shama. 

He was a cherished grandfather to Tania, Stephanie, Juliana, Franklin, Julien, Dilushini, Daria, Roshanie, Joshua, Jessica, Jeremy, Christine, and Joseph, and a proud great-grandfather to Tafari, Irene, Tajai, Connor, Bryan, Mason, Selena, Gavin, Tyson, Avelyn, Kai, Myla, and Mya.

He was a loving brother to Evanglin, Vincent, Ranji, Joseph, Pious, and Yogi, and he will be deeply missed by his extended family and all who knew him.

Bastiampilly’s life was a beautiful reflection of kindness, wisdom, patience, and deep spirituality. His gentle nature and artistic spirit touched all who crossed his path, leaving behind a legacy of love. He was a source of guidance and strength to his family and friends, and his memory will live on in their hearts forever.
